Sony claims that their next PlayStation will have more power in gaming than any PC available. I am personally skeptical of this. My reason being...IT just doesn't get better than a Radeon 9800 Pro with 256 MB RAM....lol AS a matter of fact, I thin that the next XBOX ( whatever name it shall be will be the ultimatum of console systems for some time to come. Microsoft just has the RD cash and power to do so. To Micorsoft, Sony is not too big because this software giant has too big a footprint...

A gamers pc that can smoothly run the newest games should have 512 megs to run smoothly. But I think that nintendo is eventually gonna join the PDA/Cellphone/MP3/portable game system market and Sony and MS are gonna be the only 2 system makers. I just hope that somebody will eventually defeat MS, and hopefully Sony can pull it off some how.

Personally I think that if we shoudl be hating anyone, it should be the crack dealers!

Only realy thing I'm skeptical about, is if they can do what they claim and keep it somewhat affordable cause the PS1 an PS2 both started out with the hefty price tag of roughly $500cnd, now what their claimin, I'd guess it would roughly cost about $1000, cause any computer you buy that is game worthy will cost you about $1000, I don't think I could bring myself to fork out $1000 for a console, I couldn't even bring myself to pay the $500 for a ps2 or ps2, i waited for the prices to drop, but i can't see something like the newest playstation thier working on to drop to even an affordable pricerange, if they actually do what they claim the new playstation will have for hardware specs. ;D

It is supposed to be an IBM, Toshiba, Sony joint effort to design the CPU.
Microsoft will probably go with Intel Penitum 4 or an AMD Athlon XP maybe even Athlon 64. As for video MS was disappointed with nVidia with the first XBOX and so there is tlak about going ATI.

Who cares, think of how much it'll prolly cost if their gunna live up to their word on hardware specs, they may make "sega mistake" an release an advanced console, at an advanced price which will draw not enuf crowd to make the console worht while ;D

Sega just lost becuase they went ahead too soon...Their technology was not more advanced then any other's ot just was out of its league...
As for Sony sake, the reason why we should care is that the corps behind the whole idea will make it happen and if no one care, it'' never happen...It's just like anything else, if no one cares, it'll never catch on!.
I really personally do not believe any of what SOny has stated until I see it...Call me a skeptic or whatever but it seems to improbable becuase if they can get such performance, then they might as well just make it into a new brand of PC equipmen and sell it that way. They'd make more money.

Yur absolutely right, I find it hard to believe till they actually have a workig model and benchmarked up to prove their statements, hope they can live up to what their claiming ;D
