The best of the MAC classic OS is v. 8.6 and 9.2.2. This is both from what I have been told and from my expirience. Last time I had a MAC running was just a 6100 board with 7.6, 8.6 and 9.2 on it. Last time I used a MAC professionally, it was running 9.2. I have used OSX once for a day of PS work...very nice.

9.2 and up needs to be a choice in the poll. My mother's PowerMac G4 runs 9.2.2 very nicely.

Use Mac (not MAC ) OS X for a week, then try even looking at 9.X. It's unbearable. OS X is an open-source OS, and is much more readily changed. 9.2, like windows, is based on its original code made back in the 80s. It had very little future.
